Surrounded by possibly it’s siblings, this goose chick opens it’s eye and looks at the camera. It was taken from a distance using my telephoto lens.
This photo was taken in mid-October, which is deer-rutting season. I followed a group of deer from a main path, hiding behind trees and bushes along the way.
I eventually got close enough to it, so I could take this photograph. A few seconds after I took this, it reared it’s head and then faced the other deer, mainly made up of females, and did a high-pitched scream.
Not knowing whether it was a predator warning and also quite shaken, I decided to walk back onto the main path, looking over my back to make sure it wasn’t chasing after me.
